The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) is set to postpone the AFC Champions League Elite third-round match between Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr and the United Arab Emirates’ Al Wasl. The fixture, originally scheduled to be played in Riyadh, was disrupted after Al Wasl declined to travel to the Saudi capital due to flight availability issues.
Al Wasl cited difficulties in securing flights as the primary reason for their decision not to make the trip, leading to an inability to proceed with the match as planned. According to local reports, the UAE club’s withdrawal from travel was directly linked to disruptions in commercial flight operations, which have affected the team’s logistical arrangements.
The AFC has yet to release a formal statement on the postponement but is expected to confirm the decision shortly. Neither the confederation nor the clubs have announced a rescheduled date for the encounter. Both sides are currently awaiting official communication from the governing body regarding the next steps.
This postponement adds to ongoing challenges faced by football clubs in the region due to travel restrictions and operational disruptions. The match was part of the third round of the AFC Champions League Elite competition, an important phase determining progression in one of Asia’s premier club tournaments.
