British online fashion retailer Asos has alerted its customers after experiencing a cybersecurity breach that compromised personal information. The company disclosed that an unauthorized party accessed its systems, obtaining shoppers’ names, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses. According to Asos, no payment details or passwords were exposed during the incident.

The breach came to light recently, with Asos reaching out to affected customers on Tuesday. The company emphasized that there is no need for account holders to take immediate action but advised vigilance in response to any suspicious communications. An official notification sent via the retailer’s mobile application, bearing the subject line “Asos hacked,” included a link to a Telegram account, prompting concern among users.

Asos sought to reassure its clientele by affirming the ongoing security of its website and app. In its communication, the company warned customers against responding to unsolicited requests for sensitive information, such as passwords, security codes, or payment details, underscoring that it would never solicit such data through email or phone.

With more than 17 million customers worldwide and ownership of well-known brands including TopShop and Miss Selfridge, the retailer’s data breach highlights the ongoing challenges faced by e-commerce platforms in safeguarding user information. As investigations continue, Asos remains engaged in protecting its systems and preventing future unauthorized access.
