An asylum seeker residing at the Wethersfield migrant camp in Essex has come under investigation after posting photos online showing him holding what appear to be assault rifles. Loghman Chaboki, who entered the United Kingdom illegally in June 2024, shared the images on Facebook, where he is seen dressed in military attire amid mountainous terrain.

The photographs are believed to have been taken during Chaboki’s time with the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (PDKI), an armed group that has engaged in conflict with Iranian forces for several decades. Chaboki recently appeared as a victim in a reported assault case.

Former Scotland Yard officer Steve Morris characterized the situation as concerning, stating that individuals with paramilitary backgrounds represent a significant risk and called for their asylum applications to be prioritized.

The Home Office responded by noting that all asylum claims undergo thorough security and background checks as part of the mandatory process. No further details have been released by authorities regarding any ongoing investigation into Chaboki’s case.
