Goose, the Connecticut-based jam band, held a moment of silence at their Central Park SummerStage concert on Sunday to honor Paul Kueker, a fan who died after falling from a balcony during their show at Madison Square Garden the previous evening.

Kueker, 51, suffered fatal injuries consistent with a fall from an elevated position around 9:50 p.m. on June 20, 2026. The incident occurred inside Madison Square Garden, where the band was performing. The circumstances surrounding the fall have not been publicly detailed.

Following the tragedy, Goose addressed fans via social media, expressing shock and sorrow over the incident and acknowledging the difficult emotions among attendees and their crew. The band announced that proceeds from Sunday’s Central Park concert would be donated to a fund in collaboration with the Western Sun Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded by Goose fans that supports charitable efforts for small- and mid-sized nonprofits in communities the band’s fans visit. The foundation, based in Plymouth, Michigan, reported technical issues with their website on Monday.

In addition to the financial contribution, Goose is organizing community gatherings this week featuring licensed therapists and grief counselors to provide emotional support. These events will include guided breathwork and breakout sessions aimed at helping attendees process the trauma.

Despite initial consideration of canceling the Central Park show, the band elected to proceed, citing a desire to bring their community together and offer a space for collective healing. “We considered whether or not we were going to play and came to the decision that the best thing we can do right now is bring our community together, lean on one another, and offer a space for healing,” the band remarked on social media.

At the start of the concert, multi-instrumentalist Peter Anspach addressed the crowd, expressing condolences to Kueker’s family and friends and reflecting on life’s fragility. “We just wanted to take a moment to address some of the tragic events that happened at last night’s show and extend our deepest condolences to Paul, his family, his friends and everybody who was affected by what happened,” he said.

Attendees at the event noted that the gathering helped the community mourn collectively. Comments posted by fans included a message from a family friend of Kueker, who said, “He’d want the show to go on. He’ll be watching and dancing with everyone there.”

Authorities and event organizers have not released further details regarding the investigation into Kueker’s fall. The band and their supporters continue to focus on supporting those affected and fostering healing within their fan community.
