Atletico Madrid has secured the transfer of South Korean midfielder Lee Kang-In from Paris Saint-Germain, the Spanish club confirmed. Lee has agreed to a contract that will keep him at Atletico through June 2031. While the official transfer fee was not disclosed, reports suggest the deal is valued between 35 and 40 million euros (approximately $39.8 million to $45.5 million).

Lee, 25, featured in all three group-stage matches for South Korea at the recent FIFA World Cup, although the team was eliminated after two defeats. Born in Incheon, South Korea, Lee moved to Spain at the age of 10 to join the Valencia youth academy. He went on to make 62 appearances for Valencia before transferring to Mallorca. In 2023, he signed with Paris Saint-Germain, where he accumulated 124 appearances and scored 16 goals.

Atletico Madrid finished fourth in La Liga last season and reached the final of the Copa del Rey. The club views Lee as a key addition to bolster its midfield creativity, especially following the departure of Antoine Griezmann to Major League Soccer. Griezmann, Atletico’s all-time leading scorer, left a significant gap that the club hopes Lee can help fill moving forward.
