Masked men drove a car inside a motorway service area in an attempt to steal cash and raided slot machines in the early hours of July 29. The incident took place at Wetherby services on the A1(M) motorway in West Yorkshire.

At approximately 2 a.m., a black Nissan Juke was seen reversing down the service station concourse, repeatedly ramming a standalone ATM machine. A passerby, Rupon Miah, 34, from Crystal Palace, South London, captured video footage of the event. Miah reported witnessing four men wearing balaclavas exit the vehicle and open the car’s boot before entering the slot machine area inside the services.

According to Miah, the men used the vehicle to ram the ATM and then proceeded to raid the slot machines. He said that after the men loaded the ATM into the back of the Nissan Juke, they fled the scene with the boot still open.

North Yorkshire Police confirmed that an investigation into the incident remains ongoing, with no arrests made so far. Police indicated that the suspects, believed to be four males, wore face coverings and gloves during the raid. Officers stated that two of the suspects attached what is thought to have been a chain to an &PLAY cash payout machine before loading it into the vehicle.

A Nissan Juke matching the description was later recovered in the Leeds area. The vehicle had been set on fire, and the stolen ATM machine was found inside the car.

Authorities have appealed for witnesses to come forward with any information related to the incident. No further details about the suspects or possible motives have been released at this time.
