The Austrian Armed Forces have initiated a major exercise in the eastern state of Burgenland aimed at enhancing their defenses against potential drone threats and safeguarding critical infrastructure. The operation includes deployment of specialized drone defense systems and involves approximately 300 personnel.

As part of the exercise, a drone defense system was installed at Pinkafeld Airport. This system is equipped to detect electromagnetic signals emitted by aircraft and disrupt their control mechanisms. Additionally, a sector jammer was employed to prevent unauthorized drones from entering sensitive zones.

Military activities were conducted across several locations, including Pinkafeld, Wiesfleck, and Riedlingsdorf. The exercise reflects a broader effort across European nations to bolster security measures in response to evolving technological and strategic challenges.

Officials from the Austrian Armed Forces stated that the drill was designed to improve operational readiness and enhance their capacity to address emerging threats effectively. The initiative underscores a growing focus on protecting vital infrastructure amid increasing concerns about the use of drones in security breaches.
