Marvel Studios released the first official trailer for its upcoming superhero film Avengers: Doomsday on July 20, marking a record-setting debut for the studio. The 2½-minute trailer drew 503 million views within 24 hours, making it Disney’s most-watched trailer ever. This ranks as the second-highest trailer debut overall, behind Sony’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which amassed 719 million views during its initial release.
The trailer, first previewed in April at CineconaCon in Las Vegas, features a star-studded cast with familiar faces from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Robert Downey Jr. returns as the primary antagonist Doctor Doom, and Chris Evans reprises his role as Steve Rogers/Captain America. Both actors’ appearances have generated significant excitement, with Downey Jr. returning after his character Tony Stark’s death in Avengers: Endgame (2019), and Evans’ Rogers surprising fans by wielding Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir, in a pivotal scene.
