Qatar’s Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs has formalized a strategic partnership with Qatar Charity (QC) aimed at enhancing the impact of endowment and charitable activities both domestically and internationally. The collaboration was highlighted during the inaugural meeting of the Joint Coordination and Follow-up Committee, established under Ministerial Decision No. 62 of 2026.
Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Ghanem bin Shaheen bin Ghanem al-Ghanem, described the partnership as a national model of sustainable institutional cooperation. The committee’s primary objective is to strengthen strategic collaboration by unifying efforts, integrating expertise, and pooling resources to maximize the effectiveness of initiatives related to endowment, Zakat, charitable, humanitarian, and development work.
The committee convened to discuss ways to expand cooperation in the coming phase, focusing on improving coordination in the design and rollout of joint projects. Key areas of emphasis included operational efficiency, sustainable impact, clear prioritization, and establishing timelines and financial frameworks to ensure the successful execution of agreed initiatives.
Under the ministerial directive, the committee is charged with overseeing the partnership’s progress by forming joint technical working groups tasked with assessing initiatives, developing implementation plans, tracking milestones, evaluating outcomes, and addressing challenges that may arise. These mechanisms are designed to ensure that the partnership meets its strategic goals and contributes meaningfully to Qatar’s development objectives.
This collaboration aligns closely with the Ministry’s broader goals of strengthening national partnerships and enhancing the governance frameworks for endowments, Zakat, and charitable activities. It aims to boost institutional efficiency and social impact through consolidated efforts, the exchange of expertise, and the optimal use of available resources.
Furthermore, the partnership supports the ambitions of Qatar National Vision 2030, particularly under the pillars of human and social development, social responsibility, and the promotion of solidarity and cooperation. It seeks to advance projects that foster sustainable development and humanitarian progress, augment the role of endowment and charitable sectors in society, and elevate Qatar’s profile in international humanitarian and development work.
