Babar Azam has been reinstated as captain of Pakistan's Test cricket team following the removal of Shan Masood from the position. The decision came after Pakistan suffered a string of poor results under Masood's leadership, losing 12 of their last 16 matches.

The change was confirmed by the Pakistan Cricket Board's selection committee, with Aaqib Javed, a member of the committee, citing the need for stronger leadership as the primary reason for the move. Speaking in Lahore, Javed stated that the selectors reached a unanimous decision to appoint Babar Azam, who had previously captained the Test side.

Babar, considered one of Pakistan’s premier batsmen, had led the Test team to 10 victories in 20 matches during his previous tenure. The selection committee expressed confidence that his leadership would improve the team's performance moving forward.

The decision signals a shift in direction for Pakistan’s Test squad as it seeks to regain footing after a challenging period marked by frequent losses. With Babar Azam resuming captaincy, expectations are high for the team to exhibit greater consistency and competitiveness in upcoming fixtures.
