The stage adaptation of the cult classic film "Back to the Future" is set to embark on a UK tour later this year, following a successful five-year run at London’s Adelphi Theatre. The production, which has garnered attention for its innovative effects and faithful homage to the original 1980s movie starring Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd, will bring its signature flying DeLorean to audiences across the country.

Producers describe the tour as one of the most technically ambitious to ever travel through the UK and Ireland, highlighting a combination of advanced stagecraft and spectacular visual effects designed to recreate the iconic time-travel sequences in an immersive way. Notably, the DeLorean not only simulates temporal travel but also appears to take flight, extending its journey over the audience in the theatre.

The tour is scheduled to launch at the Bristol Hippodrome on October 8 and will then visit Edinburgh, with dates continuing through November 2027. Returning to the role of the eccentric Dr. Emmett Brown is Tony Award-winning actor Roger Bart, who originated the character in the UK production before reprising it on Broadway. Joining him as Marty McFly is Australian musical theatre performer Axel Duffy, noted as an emerging talent in the genre.

This upcoming tour follows the musical’s record-breaking stint in London, which was widely praised for both its technical achievements and the ability to capture the spirit of the original film. The combination of nostalgic storytelling and modern production techniques has been a key factor in its popularity among fans of the movie and theatregoers alike.
