Oman’s national under-20 football team incurred a 2-1 loss to Bahla Club’s first team in a friendly match at the Royal Oman Police Stadium. The encounter took place during Oman U20’s current domestic training camp, which is part of the team’s preparations ahead of the upcoming AFC U20 Asian Cup China 2027 Qualifiers.

The match against Bahla Club, a side competing in the Jindal League, provided the coaching staff with an opportunity to evaluate the players’ technical abilities and physical condition in a competitive setting. Head coach Hamad al Azzani and his technical team are overseeing the camp, which focuses on enhancing the squad’s fitness, tactical execution, and overall cohesion.

The training camp, which commenced on July 17 and is scheduled to conclude on August 1, includes daily sessions focused on technical drills and physical conditioning. It also features friendly matches aimed at testing different tactical approaches and improving coordination among various team components prior to the final team selection for the qualifiers.

A total of 26 players have been called up from domestic clubs for the camp. The roster includes Ibrahim al Tamimi, Yazan al Khaldi, Al Waleed al Rashdi, Ali al Alawi, Abdullah al Saadi, Ibrahim al Shamsi, Al Hassan al Qasmi, Fahad Bait Rabia, Ahmed al Amrani, Abdulrahman al Busaidy, Issam al Mukhaini, Al Mutasim al Maqbali, and Mudathir al Batrani, among others.

Before facing Bahla Club, Oman U20 played two international friendlies against Bahrain in Muscat, both ending in 1-1 draws. These matches served as additional opportunities for the coaching staff to assess player performances against international opponents preparing for the same continental competition.

Oman is set to compete in Group E of the AFC U20 Asian Cup China 2027 Qualifiers, drawn alongside hosts Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Hong Kong, China. The qualifiers will take place in Doha, with Oman scheduled to open their campaign against Qatar on August 31, followed by matches against Saudi Arabia on September 3 and Hong Kong, China on September 6.

The coaching team plans to utilize the remaining preparation period to address weaknesses identified during recent matches, reinforce tactical systems, and ensure the squad’s readiness as they approach the competitive fixtures.
