PUTRAJAYA — The distribution of Baja 3 fertiliser to padi farmers under the Muda Agricultural Development Authority (Mada) is set to resume immediately following recent delays, according to Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.

The minister announced that the remaining supply would begin reaching farmers today, with the delivery expected to be completed within 10 days. The disruption prompted Mohamad to request the termination of Taveekun Manufacturing Sdn Bhd’s contract, the company initially responsible for the distribution.

On August 27, Mohamad submitted a letter to Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim proposing that Malaysian NPK Fertilizer Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of the National Farmers’ Organisation, take over the delivery duties. Anwar approved the proposal, enabling the transition and immediate resumption of supply distribution to affected padi farmers in the Mada area.

Mada has been instructed to closely monitor the new distribution process to ensure timely and efficient delivery to farmers. Mohamad emphasized the ministry’s firm stance against any party that fails to meet its obligations, stressing the importance of protecting the interests of padi farmers and maintaining the stability of Malaysia’s food production sector.

The minister’s intervention aims to restore confidence in the supply chain and address concerns raised by farmers over the impact of the delay on their agricultural activities and livelihoods.
