A Baltimore father and mother have been charged in connection with the death of their two-month-old daughter, who was found with suspicious bruising on her face, according to court records.
Katerin Monzon-Alvarado and Oscar Pineda, both 21, took their infant daughter, Aida Alvarado, to a hospital on Wednesday after noticing severe bruising around her eyes and jawline. Medical staff reported that Aida became unresponsive while lying face down following a feeding, and efforts to revive her were unsuccessful.
Court documents reveal that Pineda attributed the infant’s injuries to a supernatural cause, claiming that “Satan” had struck the child by swinging a door. Authorities arrested both parents the same day, and they appeared in court on Friday.
They face multiple charges including child abuse, assault, and reckless endangerment, which together carry a potential maximum sentence of 55 years in prison. Investigations remain ongoing as officials continue to examine the circumstances surrounding Aida’s death.
