Bang Chan, a member of the K-pop group Stray Kids, donated a total of 300 million won (approximately $285,000) to three charitable organizations in celebration of his 29th birthday on October 3, according to his agency JYP Entertainment. The Australian singer directed 100 million won each to Hearcycle, World Vision, and the marine environmental group Our Sea of East Asia Network (OSEAN).
The contribution to World Vision will support the Dreaming Children programme, which offers scholarships and tailored growth assistance for children and teenagers from low-income and vulnerable families. Donations to Hearcycle are intended to fund medical expenses and social reintegration activities for young people with hearing impairments. Meanwhile, the funds given to OSEAN will aid coastal and river clean-up initiatives as well as efforts to collect marine debris.
In a press statement, Bang Chan expressed the importance of extending support across different areas of need, from children's welfare to environmental conservation, emphasizing his hope that the donations would help create a better future.
These recent gifts raise Bang Chan’s total charitable donations for 2026 to 500 million won. In September, he contributed 100 million won to Seoul Rehabilitation Hospital to support the development of specialized rehabilitation centres tailored to patients’ ages and medical conditions. He also donated another 100 million won to UNICEF Korea to assist with recovery efforts following severe flooding in Nepal.
Bang Chan has a history of philanthropy, both individually and alongside his Stray Kids bandmates. The eight-member group, which includes Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin, and I.N., has previously supported disaster relief and social causes. In 2025, Stray Kids contributed to the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association and World Vision to help recovery efforts from wildfires in South Korea’s North and South Gyeongsang provinces, as well as aid provided through World Vision Hong Kong after a fire incident there.
The singer has also commemorated past birthdays with charitable donations. In 2025, he gave a combined 200 million won to Samsung Medical Center and UNICEF Korea, supporting pediatric and adolescent patients and children worldwide. In 2024, Bang Chan donated 100 million won to the Community Chest of Korea to aid people with developmental disabilities, becoming a member of the organization’s high-value donor program, the Honor Society.
