Bangladeshi photographer Pinu Rahman received dual recognition at the Siena Awards 2026 in Italy, earning accolades in two distinct categories. His photograph titled “The Golden Burden” won the People category at the Creative Photo Awards 2026, securing the Pangea Prize. Another of his works, “Bad Morning in a Burned Valley,” achieved a Highly Commended mention in the Documentary and Photojournalism category of the Siena International Photo Awards (SIPA).

The award ceremony took place on October 10 at the Teatro dei Rinnovati in Siena. This year’s Siena Awards, marking their 12th edition, combined three competitions: SIPA, the Creative Photo Awards, and the Drone Photo Awards. The festival, which runs from October 10 through November 29 across various locations in Siena and surrounding areas, drew more than 40,000 submissions from 163 countries, according to the organisers.

Winning entries will be showcased at the main exhibition titled “People Sharing All the World” and will also be featured in the bilingual photobook series “Beyond the Lens.” Italian photographer Stefano Rosselli was named SIPA Photographer of the Year for his image “Amina,” shot in Afghanistan.

Rahman has been active in photography since 2012, concentrating on themes related to people, society, travel, and documentary storytelling. Earlier this year, he also earned the title of Bangladesh’s National Winner at the Sony World Photography Awards 2026, further establishing his reputation in the international photography community.
