Bank Asia PLC has been honored with the World Savings and Retail Banking Institute (WSBI) SDG Award for the second consecutive year, recognising its significant efforts in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The award, presented on October 15 in Bangkok, Thailand, acknowledged the bank’s achievements in the category of “Excellence in Inclusive Banking & Social Impact.”

Mohammad Ziaul Hasan Molla, additional managing director of Bank Asia, accepted the award from Peter Simon, chief executive officer of WSBI. The ceremony was also attended by Ulrich Reuter, president of the Deutscher Sparkassen- und Giroverband (DSGV, German Savings Banks Association) and vice-president of WSBI, alongside Nahid Imani, senior executive vice president and head of Corporate & Large Loan at Bank Asia.

The event took place alongside the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group and was organized jointly by WSBI and the European Savings and Retail Banking Group (ESBG) for the second year. The WSBI-ESBG SDG Awards recognise member institutions that have demonstrated remarkable contributions to economic prosperity, financial and social inclusion, and environmental stewardship in line with the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Bank Asia’s recognition follows its engagement in the WSBI-ESBG SDG Data Survey and SDG Awards initiatives, which focus on showcasing financial institutions’ roles in promoting sustainability, inclusive finance, and social progress. The award highlights the bank’s ongoing commitment to delivering sustainable, inclusive banking services aimed at empowering underserved communities and fostering social impact.

This latest accolade builds on Bank Asia’s previous win at the WSBI SDG Awards 2025 held in Washington, DC, reinforcing its sustained dedication to expanding financial accessibility and supporting sustainable development goals through socially responsible banking practices.
