Despite the hopeful start for Fleetwood, Barnet regained control early in the second half with two goals scored in quick succession. Charlie Lakin put Barnet ahead again shortly after the break, connecting on a cross from Tshimanga, who played a key creative role throughout the match. Shortly after, Idris Kanu extended the lead, with Tshimanga again involved in orchestrating the play. These goals defined the outcome, securing Barnet’s win.
Fleetwood, who had recently celebrated a Carabao Cup victory over Championship side Sheffield United—earning themselves a high-profile home fixture against Premier League champions Arsenal next month—struggled to maintain momentum after halftime. Manager Matt Lawlor attributed the turnaround to fatigue, stating that his team’s tired performance allowed Barnet to dominate the second half. Barnet also faced adversity late in the game as substitute Nnamdi Ofoborh received two yellow cards in quick succession in the 85th minute, reducing the host side to ten men. Despite this, Barnet held firm to preserve their winning margin.
