Barry Manilow has shared insights into the creative process behind his upcoming album, "What A Time," revealing that an attempt to emulate contemporary artist Billie Eilish’s style did not resonate with him. The veteran singer, known for hits like "Copacabana," said he initially experimented with modern musical trends but ultimately returned to his signature sound.
In discussing the album, Manilow said the project had been in development for an extended period and that changes in direction occurred along the way. “I tried doing the Billie Eilish style and I sounded like an idiot, so that didn’t work,” he admitted. Following this realization, he chose to focus on the style he prefers and feels most comfortable with.
Manilow described the new album as a collection of songs that include contributions from various songwriters as well as his own work. He expressed pride in the final product, emphasizing the quality of the material and his personal connection to it.
"What A Time" is scheduled for release next Friday, marking Manilow’s latest offering amid his long-standing career in the music industry.
