Bay City Roller, a New Bay colt trained by George Scott, could make an early return to racing next month in the Prix Foy at ParisLongchamp as part of preparations for the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. The horse, owned by Victorious Racing, has not competed since a commanding 10-length victory in the Coronation Cup in early June. Since that race, unfavorable fast summer ground conditions have disrupted plans for additional runs.

Billy Jackson-Stops, racing manager for Victorious Racing, indicated that recent training sessions have shown the horse to be in strong form. “George says a couple of bits of work lately have been as good as ever. We’re really happy with him," he said. Jackson-Stops noted the decision to enter the Prix Foy depends on ground conditions in France, adding that the Irish Champion Stakes is also a potential target. Nonetheless, the ultimate goal for Bay City Roller this season remains the Arc, scheduled for early October.

In a separate development, Mrair, a well-regarded breeze-up purchase, missed his opportunity to compete in the Gimcrack Stakes at York’s Ebor Festival due to a late setback that forced his withdrawal. Jackson-Stops commented that the issue is currently not fully understood and that the team will take time to assess the colt’s condition before making further plans.
