Trainer George Scott has indicated that Bay City Roller, winner of the Coronation Cup, is expected to compete against Constitution Hill in the upcoming September Stakes at Kempton on Saturday. The dual Group 1 winner was initially aimed at the Prix Foy in Paris, but recent developments including a favorable workout and weather conditions have prompted a change in plans.

Scott noted that following a midweek session at Kempton, jockey Oisin Murphy expressed a preference for the surface, influencing the decision to switch venues. “It looks pretty dry in Paris so at the moment I would say Kempton is more likely,” Scott said. The switch allows Bay City Roller to prepare ahead of the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, as the September Stakes is seen as a key stepping stone toward that goal.

The race is set to feature a competitive field, including Constitution Hill, trained by Nicky Henderson, and Gethin. Scott acknowledged the strength of the lineup, emphasizing the importance of the contest in honing Bay City Roller’s form for the Arc. “It looks like it will be a strong race!” he added.

The September Stakes at Kempton is scheduled for next weekend and is a Group 3 event that often serves as a preparatory contest for horses targeting major autumn races across Europe.
