Bayern Munich opened their Bundesliga title defense with an emphatic 5-1 victory against Stuttgart at the Allianz Arena on Saturday. The home side took an early lead in the 21st minute when Dayot Upamecano headed in a cross from Joshua Kimmich, breaking the deadlock after a period of Stuttgart resistance.

Bayern controlled much of the first half but maintained only a one-goal advantage at halftime. The visitors managed to equalize seven minutes into the second half through Josha Vagnoman, who capitalized on a rebound off the Bayern defense to score.

However, Stuttgart’s comeback was brief. Michael Olise regained the lead for Bayern in the 55th minute, finishing off a pass from Kimmich after penetrating the Stuttgart backline. Shortly afterward, Vagnoman inadvertently increased Bayern’s lead by scoring an own goal while trying to clear the ball.

With Stuttgart committing more players forward to chase the game, Bayern exploited the space on the counterattack. Ismael Saibari played a key role in the final stages, assisting Aleksandar Pavlovic’s goal in the 82nd minute following a swift break. Saibari then provided a further assist to Luis Diaz, who added a fifth goal during stoppage time.

Despite striker Harry Kane not scoring in the match, Bayern demonstrated strong attacking depth in securing a comfortable win. The result marked a promising start for new head coach Vincent Kompany as the team begins its campaign.

Bayern Munich will face newly promoted Schalke on September 5 in their next league fixture, while Stuttgart is set to host Cologne a day earlier.
