Bayern Munich began their Bundesliga title defence with a 5-1 victory over Stuttgart at the Allianz Arena on Saturday, despite striker Harry Kane failing to find the net.

The home side took the lead in the 21st minute when Dayot Upamecano rose highest to head in a corner, giving Bayern an early advantage. However, Stuttgart defender Josha Vagnoman levelled the score in the 52nd minute, surprising the hosts and their manager, Vincent Kompany.

Bayern quickly regained control just three minutes later as Michael Olise calmly finished to restore their lead. The match took a dramatic turn shortly afterward when Vagnoman, who had been a key figure for Stuttgart, slipped while attempting to clear a cross from Alphonso Davies and inadvertently scored an own goal, extending Bayern’s lead.

Harry Kane, who scored 61 goals for Bayern last season, provided a precise pass to Olise, but the forward’s subsequent goal was disallowed for offside. Bayern continued to dominate and Aleksandar Pavlovic added a fourth goal in the 82nd minute, followed by Luiz Diaz, who secured the win with a clinical finish during injury time.

The result showcased Bayern’s attacking depth and resilience, moving them off to a strong start in the new Bundesliga campaign under Kompany’s management. Stuttgart, meanwhile, will look to recover from the defeat and tighten their defensive lapses as the season progresses.
