Over the years, the show was initially hosted by David Vine and later gained popularity through presenters including former skier Graham Bell and snowboarder Ed Leigh. In 2021, four-time Olympian Chemmy Alcott joined the presenting team alongside Leigh.

The cancellation of Ski Sunday follows the recent end of another long-standing BBC sports programme, Football Focus, which concluded after 52 years in early 2026. These changes reflect the BBC’s ongoing drive to evolve its sports coverage, responding to audience habits and the wider media landscape.
