Nicky Campbell’s daughter was seriously injured in a hit-and-run incident involving an electric bicycle in London on Friday evening. The Radio 5 Live presenter, 65, revealed that his 26-year-old daughter, Lilla, was struck while out with her sisters in the Peckham area.

Campbell shared details of the incident on social media, describing a distressing night. He said the e-bike rider fled the scene shortly after emergency services arrived. “Once he saw the ambulance arrive and the crowd gathering, he scarpered,” Campbell said, adding that CCTV footage of the incident may be available. He confirmed that Lilla was badly hurt but had since returned home and expressed relief that the injuries could have been more severe.

In addition to the collision, Campbell reported another traumatic event that occurred while his family was at the hospital. After Lilla and her sisters, along with a friend, went to the accident and emergency department, a drunken individual entered the trauma room and exposed himself. Police quickly responded to the scene and arrested the man, who is now in custody. Campbell praised the swift action of the police, saying he spoke with officers upon arriving at the hospital around 3:15 a.m.

The presenter also commended the medical staff at King’s College Hospital for their care and professionalism. He extended thanks to the doctors and nurses, highlighting their vital role in treating his daughter.

Public figures, including BBC colleagues Rachel Burden and Louise Minchin, offered messages of support following the incident. Burden expressed concern and hoped for the wellbeing of Lilla and her sisters, while Minchin wished Lilla a speedy recovery.

Campbell, who is married to BBC journalist Tina Ritchie, has four daughters in total: Breagha, 28; Lilla, 26; Kirsty, 24; and Isla, 22. The family is currently focused on Lilla’s recovery and expressed gratitude for the emergency services involved in both the immediate response and subsequent care.
