The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has announced a tender for a £250 million contract to manage its global travel services. The agreement will cover expenses related to flights, hotels, and train travel for the entire BBC Group, which includes its subsidiaries such as BBC Studios.

The contract is intended to span five years and aims to consolidate travel arrangements across the organization’s international operations. However, taxi fares are excluded from this agreement, as they fall under a separate contract valued at £63 million, which was advertised earlier this year.

A BBC spokeswoman emphasized that the corporation operates around the clock worldwide, making travel an unavoidable expense. She noted that efficiency and cost-effectiveness are priorities, adding that the BBC has implemented measures to limit non-essential travel. Despite the contract’s maximum estimated value, the corporation expects to spend less over the course of the agreement.

The move reflects the BBC’s ongoing efforts to streamline operational costs while maintaining its global reach in news gathering and production. The selection process will seek a provider capable of delivering comprehensive travel management services that meet the corporation’s needs and support its extensive international presence.
