The BBC sitcom Amandaland is set to return this December with a second Christmas special, continuing the story of Amanda, a social-climbing single mother navigating life in South Harlesden. The hour-long episode will center on Amanda, played by Lucy Punch, as she attempts to organize an extravagant, last-minute holiday party to impress an old school friend, although events do not unfold as smoothly as planned.

Amandaland, a spin-off of the series Motherland, has gained a strong following since its debut last year. The 2026 festive special became the most-watched comedy episode of the year, attracting an audience of 7.4 million viewers. The show’s second series, which aired in May, also performed well, averaging 4.5 million viewers per episode.

Alongside Punch, who portrayed Amanda in a Father Christmas-inspired outfit for promotional material, is Joanna Lumley reprising her role as Felicity, Amanda’s aristocratic mother. Punch described the upcoming special as festive and humorous, mentioning elements such as mistletoe and cheese straws, as well as her character’s humorous attempt at a “middle-aged wannabe sexy Santa.”

Set in the fictional London neighborhood of South Harlesden, Amandaland explores Amanda’s life and challenges after her divorce, capturing the comedic and social dynamics within her circle. The Christmas special aims to offer viewers a blend of holiday cheer with the series’ characteristic wit and social commentary.
