Actor Iain Robertson has been sentenced to nine years in prison after being convicted of rape and multiple assaults, including domestic violence. The former River City star, who portrayed Stevie O’Hara in the BBC Scotland soap opera, was found guilty last month of five offences involving three women.

During a hearing at Edinburgh High Court, where Robertson appeared via videolink from prison, Judge Lady Drummond imposed the nine-year term alongside an additional three years of supervision following his release. The judge noted that the defendant’s actions had inflicted “lasting psychological harm” on the victims. Robertson, 45, showed no visible reaction as the sentence was delivered.

In addition to his custodial sentence, Robertson was ordered to register as a sex offender indefinitely. The court also issued lifelong non-harassment orders against him to protect the victims. The convictions encompass rape, assault, and domestic abuse, reflecting a pattern of violent behavior toward multiple women.
