The British Chamber of Commerce Qatar (BCCQ) convened nearly 100 members and guests at its annual Summer Sundowners networking event held at B-Lounge, The Ritz-Carlton Doha, underscoring ongoing efforts to enhance business ties between the UK and Qatar. The event brought together senior executives, entrepreneurs, business leaders, and industry representatives from across Qatar, providing an informal setting for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and the formation of new professional connections.
Representatives from the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) at the British Embassy in Doha also attended, highlighting the shared commitment among BCCQ, the British Embassy, and the UK Government to promote trade, investment, and commercial collaboration between the two countries.
BCCQ Vice-Chair Rupert Bastick emphasized the significance of the Summer Sundowners within the Chamber’s calendar, describing it as a key occasion for fostering meaningful discussions that often lead to the development of partnerships and stronger business relationships. Bastick noted a notable rise in first-time attendees, attributing this to the Chamber’s expanding membership and the increasing recognition of the value offered by its professional network.
Attendees throughout the evening stressed the ongoing relevance of face-to-face networking in building durable business relationships and supporting commercial growth in both Qatar and the UK. The Chamber reiterated its commitment to collaborating with strategic partners, government entities, sponsors, and the British Embassy to deliver a broad range of programming. This includes networking sessions, business briefings, leadership forums, and sector-specific discussions aimed at benefiting companies operating in both markets.
The BCCQ also expressed gratitude to the staff at B-Lounge, The Ritz-Carlton Doha, for their hospitality in facilitating the event’s success. Following a robust first half of 2026, the Chamber is preparing a comprehensive schedule of activities for the remainder of the year. Upcoming events include business lunches, networking receptions, exclusive member gatherings, leadership workshops, sector briefings, the BCCQ Corporate Golf Day, a Celebration Evening, and the highly anticipated BCCQ Winter Ball.
