Film crews shot scenes on Abbey Road in London this week for an upcoming biopic series about the Beatles, temporarily halting traffic at the iconic zebra crossing. The street, a popular destination for tourists who often recreate the band’s famous 1969 album cover image, was transformed with vintage automobiles and approximately 80 extras to authentically evoke the late 1960s setting.

Actors Paul Mescal, Barry Keoghan, Joseph Quinn, and Harris Dickinson portray Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, George Harrison, and John Lennon, respectively, in the planned four-film project. Directed by Sam Mendes, the series intends to explore the Beatles’ story from each member’s viewpoint. The films are scheduled for release in April 2028.

The original Abbey Road photograph, taken by Iain Macmillan on August 8, 1969, captured the group crossing the street outside the EMI Studios, now known as Abbey Road Studios. The image has since become one of the most recognized and enduring visuals in popular music history. The crossing itself holds Grade II listed status in the United Kingdom, acknowledging its cultural and historical significance.
