Odell Beckham Jr. is set to make a highly anticipated return to MetLife Stadium on Sunday night, where he first gained international acclaim as a rookie for the New York Giants in 2014. The matchup against the Dallas Cowboys marks Beckham’s first regular-season game with the Giants in nearly six years, a moment he described as part of what he calls “God’s plan.”

Beckham, 33, will be playing in an NFL atmosphere that holds special significance for him. In his debut season, he made a now-legendary one-handed catch against the Cowboys—a play widely regarded as one of the greatest in football history. This Sunday’s game, his first with the Giants since 2018’s Week 13, offers a chance for a new chapter in his career.

To mark the occasion, Beckham has revived his signature look by dyeing his hair platinum blond, a style he had kept under wraps during the week. “I kind of got a request from a couple of the young guys, like, ‘We need to see the blond. I need that as a core memory,’” Beckham said after Friday’s practice. He previously sported black hair throughout the summer but chose to return to the blond for this “throwback storyline.”

Beckham’s career has been a series of highs and lows. After an impressive early run with the Giants, injuries and team changes saw him with the Miami Dolphins in 2024, where his performance waned. He did not play at all during the 2025 season but defied expectations by making the Giants’ 53-man roster out of training camp. As one of only four wide receivers on the team, Beckham is expected to see playing time.

Beckham recognizes the challenge of living up to the defining catch that arguably shaped public perception of his entire career. “I’ve dropped a lot of one-hands, too,” he said. “But it changed my life forever … for better or for worse, because people try and amount the whole career into one play.”

Former teammates have reached out to Beckham, expressing admiration for his perseverance and for returning to the Giants under new circumstances. “It’s just crazy,” he said, “It’s a tremendous amount of top off to you and the work that you did to get back here.”

If preseason performances are any indication, Beckham is expected to perform his traditional one-handed catch during endzone warm-ups, and the home crowd is likely to respond enthusiastically. Reflecting on his journey, Beckham said, “I just love this game and I’ve sacrificed my whole life for it. I want to give this city, this organization, these fans, every last bit of me.”
