Brayan Bello delivered another dominant relief performance Monday night as the Boston Red Sox secured an 11-1 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks at Fenway Park, extending their homestand. Bello pitched 4⅔ innings, allowing a single run, and continued his exceptional run out of the bullpen, maintaining a major-league-leading 0.85 ERA in 11 relief appearances this season.

After being demoted to triple-A Worcester in early June due to struggles as a starter, Bello has thrived in a long relief role since his mid-July return to Boston. He has allowed five earned runs over 52⅔ innings in relief, with interim manager Chad Tracy emphasizing Bello’s value in this capacity. “He’s been very, very good in that role for a while now,” Tracy said, noting the pitcher’s effectiveness in taking down innings and helping the team win.

Bello’s performance was stretched late in the sixth inning when the Diamondbacks loaded the bases with one out. He managed to escape the jam by inducing a sacrifice fly from Geraldo Perdomo and striking out Jordan Lawlar, preserving the lead. Bello acknowledged the shift in role through an interpreter, expressing pride in contributing to the team’s success regardless of his position on the mound.

While Tracy highlighted the possibility of Bello returning to a starting role in the future, he emphasized that the immediate priority is winning games. “Right now, it’s about winning ballgames, and he’s willing to take down whatever role we need him to take down for us to help us win a game,” Tracy said.

Offensively, the Red Sox provided strong support. The team went 6-for-13 with runners in scoring position, a major improvement after hitting just .171 in such situations over the previous nine games. All starters except Andruw Monasterio recorded at least one RBI, marking the first time since 2023 that each member of the lineup contributed in that way. Remarkably, no player struck out during the game, a feat the Red Sox had not accomplished since 2010.

Key offensive contributors included Ceddanne Rafaela, who had three doubles, Caleb Durbin, who reached base four times, and Mickey Gasper, who hit his first home run of the season. Adley Rutschman also posted a notable performance in his Fenway debut with Boston, going 2-for-5 with an RBI double after struggling in his initial week with the team. Rutschman remarked on the energized atmosphere in the bullpen and the encouragement from Red Sox fans.

The offense capitalized early against rookie left-hander Mitch Bratt, scoring three runs in as many innings, then broke the game open against right-hander Zack Littell, adding eight runs in just under four innings. Tracy praised the offensive improvement and acknowledged that several players had bounced back after recent challenges.

With the victory, the Red Sox improved to 67-58, continuing their efforts to secure a playoff position in a competitive American League East. Bello’s continued success out of the bullpen remains a decisive factor for the team moving forward.
