Belper Town suffered a narrow defeat against AFC Rushden and Diamonds in a closely contested match on Sunday. Despite a strong performance, Belper were unable to secure a point in the encounter.

The match began with Belper asserting early pressure, but the home side took the lead in the 13th minute. Jack Dolby’s shot from just inside the penalty area took a deflection, deceiving goalkeeper Kieron Preston and opening the scoring. Six minutes later, Rushden & Diamonds extended their lead when Matthew Warburton curled a precise shot into the top corner of the net.

Following the second goal, Belper Town controlled much of the remainder of the first half but failed to convert their possession into goals. After the break, the Nailers maintained their dominance in play and managed to pull one goal back through Jacob Gratton, who struck a low shot to beat the Rushden keeper.

Despite their efforts in the second half, Belper were unable to find the equalizer to salvage a draw. The match concluded with AFC Rushden and Diamonds claiming a 2-1 victory, leaving Belper Town reflecting on a performance that warranted at least a share of the points.
