Benjamin Sesko acknowledged a challenging start to his time in Manchester following his transfer from RB Leipzig last year but said he now feels settled both on and off the pitch. Since joining Manchester United for a reported fee of £66 million, the 23-year-old Slovenian forward has yet to start a Premier League match this season, appearing only as a substitute in the first three league games and going 133 days without a top-flight start.
However, Sesko made a notable impact during Manchester United’s recent Champions League fixture against Sabah, scoring in what was his first start of the 2026-27 campaign. His performance has given manager Michael Carrick something to consider ahead of a high-profile Premier League clash with Manchester City at Old Trafford, although Carrick is expected to opt for a striker-less attacking setup.
Reflecting on his adaptation process, Sesko described his current state as his best since joining the club. “Way better, especially than last season,” he said, highlighting the challenges of adapting to a new country and environment. “Everything was new for me. Now for me it’s like I’m really enjoying it. I’m really happy.” He also spoke positively about his adjustment to life in Manchester, mentioning that he enjoys exploring the city and engaging in leisure activities such as visiting arcades, as well as spending time with teammates.
Sesko also addressed his recent return to full fitness following a shin injury sustained last season. He admitted the injury was partly caused by a combination of an external impact and overexertion. “I got a kick last season, but it was also a little bit of an overload from myself,” he explained. He said the decision to delay his return to play was the right one and that the injury has since healed fully.
As Sesko works toward more regular involvement in Manchester United’s squad, his recent performances and positive outlook suggest he is poised to make a greater contribution in the coming months.
