Leicestershire Foxes moved to the top of Group A in the One-Day Cup with a commanding 164-run victory over Somerset on Tuesday. Batting at home, Leicestershire posted a total of 289 runs, led by Ben Cox’s top score of 89 and supported by Ian Holland’s 77.

Somerset struggled in their response, being bowled out for just 125. The Foxes’ bowling attack was spearheaded by Ben Green and Alex Green, who each took three wickets as they dismantled the visitors’ batting lineup. In addition to his batting contribution, Ben Cox also took a catch in the field.

Elsewhere in Group A, Nottinghamshire missed the opportunity to draw level with Leicestershire at the summit after falling to a five-wicket defeat against Kent. Kent’s victory was largely propelled by Harry Finch’s 88 runs.

At Beckenham, Ben Martindale scored a century for Gloucestershire, posting 101 runs; however, his efforts were insufficient as Gloucestershire fell short with a total of 293. Warwickshire secured a six-wicket victory in that match, which left Gloucestershire at the bottom of the table. Northamptonshire also strengthened their position in the group, winning by 67 runs against Lancashire.

In Group B, Middlesex assumed the lead following a 35-run win over Yorkshire, overtaking their rivals. Durham matched Middlesex with 16 points after securing a nine-wicket victory against Hampshire. Meanwhile, Sussex Sharks continued to struggle, suffering a heavy 188-run defeat to Derbyshire Falcons. Essex recorded a 107-run win over Worcestershire, adding further shifts in the standings.

The latest round of fixtures has intensified the competition for qualification, with Leicestershire’s emphatic win illustrating their intent to maintain their foothold at the top of Group A, while Middlesex and Durham vie closely in Group B ahead of the concluding stages of the tournament.
