Ben Stokes has expressed a strong interest in transitioning to a coaching role with the England cricket team in the future. The former England captain, who stepped away from international cricket after the Test series loss to New Zealand in June, indicated he would “love” to return to the England dressing room as a coach.

Stokes had previously announced that he had “definitely” played his last game for England, citing the physical and emotional toll of four years leading the team. At the time of his initial retirement, he stated he no longer had “any more fight left” to give at the international level. Despite this, he briefly reversed his decision when he rejoined the squad for the 2023 Cricket World Cup.

Rob Key, managing director of men’s cricket for England, recently commented on Stokes’ future involvement with the national team, saying he “wouldn’t be surprised” if Stokes made a comeback in some capacity. “Anything’s possible with Ben,” Key added, leaving the door open for roles beyond his playing career.

While Stokes has ruled out further appearances as a player, his desire to remain connected to England cricket appears clear as he looks ahead to potential coaching opportunities.
