Portuguese football club Benfica and sportswear giant Adidas have extended their partnership with a new sponsorship agreement reportedly valued at €120 million (approximately US$138.4 million) through 2033. This six-year deal is said to be the largest sponsorship arrangement in the history of Portuguese football.
The agreement, confirmed in a joint statement by both parties on Monday, includes naming rights for Benfica’s training and development centre, which will be rebranded as the Adidas Benfica Campus. While the exact financial details were not officially disclosed by the club or Adidas, a local business newspaper reported the deal’s value but did not clarify the source of its information.
Adidas has been Benfica’s official kit supplier since the 1997-98 season, consistently outfitting the club for nearly three decades. The new contract will continue this collaboration, supporting Benfica’s on-field kits and coinciding with the unveiling of the club’s 2026-27 season shirts, which commemorate the 20th anniversary of the training campus.
Benfica, founded in 1904 and one of Portugal’s three most prominent football clubs alongside FC Porto and Sporting CP, is based in Lisbon and plays in the country’s largest stadium. The club is also recognized for its strong emphasis on youth development.
In recent years, Benfica has attracted growing interest from foreign investors. US-based investment firm Lenore Sports Partners acquired a 5.24% stake in the club last year. Earlier in 2026, US investor Tim Leiweke attempted to purchase a 16.4% share but withdrew following concerns from the club management regarding his ownership in other European football teams.
This extended partnership with Adidas reinforces Benfica’s commercial growth and its global branding strategy as the club navigates evolving investment landscapes while maintaining its traditional role as a key player in Portuguese football.
