Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has expanded the candidate list for his Beyachad party by adding four women, bringing the total number of female candidates to 17 ahead of the upcoming legislative election on October 27. Beyachad, a key component of the opposition bloc aiming to unseat Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, announced the additions on Tuesday.

Among the new candidates is Esti Ayalon Kubo, a former head of Israel’s economic delegation to China. Kubo has significant experience in economic diplomacy and has represented Israel at multiple international economic forums. Born in Ethiopia, she immigrated to Israel with her family and was recognized in 2024 as one of the 50 most influential Jews by a leading Israeli publication.

The list also includes social entrepreneur Olessia Kantor, who founded the Lev Esh initiative following the October 7 massacre. Lev Esh provides therapeutic support for survivors suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety. Kantor is also known for establishing a philanthropic foundation dedicated to helping women and children affected by domestic violence.

Burja Naim Erman, who serves as Beyachad’s director-general, was also added to the party slate. Erman previously held a senior role within the Ministry of Transportation.

Beyachad’s move to increase female representation reflects a broader effort to diversify the party’s candidate pool as it prepares for the election, where it seeks to challenge the long-standing leadership of Netanyahu. The additions highlight Bennett’s intention to bring a range of professional and personal experiences into the political arena, from diplomatic and economic expertise to social activism and governance.
