Lewis Baker, a 35-year-old mechanic, has been sentenced to 15 months in prison following a fatal motorcycle crash in Tingewick, Buckinghamshire, in 2023. The incident, which occurred while Baker and his 31-year-old brother-in-law Jason Wallis were riding at speeds reaching 178 mph, resulted in Wallis’s death and left Baker seriously injured.

The two men were attempting to overtake a car when their motorcycles collided with the vehicle. Baker later pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and appeared before Aylesbury Crown Court. In addition to the prison sentence, he received a 10-year driving ban.

Judge Jonathan Cooper, presiding over the case, emphasized the dangers of excessive speed on public roads, stating that “the place for driving at extremely high speed is a racetrack.”

The crash has highlighted ongoing concerns about high-speed riding on public highways and the significant risks it poses to both riders and other road users.
