Muscat hosted a series of high-level meetings on Monday between Omani and Algerian military officials aimed at reinforcing bilateral ties and exploring areas of mutual interest. The delegation from Algeria was led by General Saïd Chanegriha, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence and Chief of People’s National Army Staff of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria.

General Chanegriha met with HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, at Muaskar Al Murtafaa. Vice Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis al Raisi, Chief of Staff of the Sultan’s Armed Forces, and the Algerian ambassador to Oman also attended the meeting.

Later at Bait Al Falaj, Rear Admiral Ali bin Abdullah al Shidi, Commandant of the National Defence College (NDC), received the Algerian delegation. General Chanegriha and his team were briefed on the NDC's facilities and academic programs at the Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies, where they toured various departments. The Algerian ambassador was present during this meeting as well.

Meanwhile, Vice Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis al Raisi welcomed General Chanegriha at his office in Muaskar Al Murtafaa with a formal reception ceremony, including a guard of honour and a military band salute.
