Billericay Town extended their unbeaten league streak to six matches with a decisive 3-0 victory over Farnborough at home on Saturday. The win was largely secured by striker Macauley Bonne, who opened the scoring with an early header in the second minute and added a second goal shortly afterward.
The match began with Billericay asserting control, as Taylor Clark forced a reflex save from Farnborough goalkeeper Lucas Thomas. Within moments, Bonne capitalized on a rebound off the crossbar after a shot from Charlie Ruff to put the Blues ahead. Bonne came close to doubling his tally again in the seventh minute, but Thomas managed to recover and prevent the goal following a loose clearance.
Farnborough responded with some pressure, notably when Joe Wright, Billericay’s keeper, tipped over an inswinging corner from Kasim Aidoo. However, Billericay soon extended their lead. Bonne headed home at the far post after Elliot Long’s initial effort was blocked, securing a 2-0 advantage before halftime. Wright was further tested when he made a strong save from a diving header by Tate Xavier-Jones.
The second half featured fewer clear chances, though Bonne was denied a potential hat-trick by a timely leg block from Thomas. Farnborough offered limited threat, with their main effort coming from Mason Bloomfield’s header, which Wright controlled comfortably. In stoppage time, substitute Frankie Merrifield capitalized on a loose ball, outpacing Thomas to slot into an open net and seal the victory for Billericay Town.
The result solidifies Billericay’s position with continued momentum as they look to build on a strong run of form this season. Farnborough, meanwhile, will seek to regroup following their defeat on the road.
