Veteran striker Billy Kee has committed to remaining with Quorn Football Club despite the team’s challenging transition into a new league. The 35-year-old forward, who previously played for Accrington Stanley, expressed determination to overcome the skepticism surrounding the club’s prospects following their lateral move from the Southern Premier Central to the Northern Premier League Premier division this summer.

Quorn has experienced a significant turnover in players amid the league switch, leading many to question the team’s ability to compete at the higher level. Kee acknowledged that many have already written the club off but emphasized that this doubt serves as motivation rather than discouragement. “For me personally, I like the fact we’ve been written off already by most,” he said. “It drives me to prove people wrong.”

Kee also stressed the importance of collective effort, highlighting that survival in the league will depend on every player giving their maximum effort each week. “Everybody has to give everything every week for us to have a chance of survival, but that’s exactly what we’ll do,” he added.

The club has also seen changes off the pitch, with first-team coach Ryan Conneely departing to take up a role at Halesowen Town. Conneely’s exit comes at a time when Quorn is attempting to stabilize the squad and coaching staff in preparation for the demanding season ahead.

Despite the hurdles, Kee’s decision to stay signals a commitment to helping Quorn navigate this critical period. The team’s ability to adapt and perform in the Northern Premier League Premier division will be closely watched by supporters and rivals alike as the new season approaches.
