Students from Birla Public School in Doha secured first place at the ICC Quiz Competition 2026, held on October 2 at the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) Ashoka Hall in Doha. The event, organized by the Indian Cultural Centre under the auspices of the Indian Embassy in Qatar, was part of the Gandhi Jayanti celebrations honoring the life and legacy of Mahatma Gandhi.
The competition brought together 15 Indian schools across Qatar, with 51 teams comprising 102 students competing in several rounds designed to test their knowledge and quick thinking. These rounds included Preliminary, Audio, Visual, Rapid Fire, Missing Link, and Clue challenges, culminating in a final stage where the top teams competed for the title.
Birla Public School fielded four teams under the guidance of Rakesh Verma. The winning team—consisting of Grade 12 students Nihal Raval and Wendron Horwing Machado—demonstrated notable confidence, teamwork, and a strong grasp of general knowledge and historical facts throughout the competition, securing a decisive victory.
The achievement highlights the school’s emphasis on fostering intellectual curiosity, patriotism, and a broad understanding of history among its students. School officials expressed pride in the students’ performance and praised the efforts of all participants for their enthusiasm and commitment.
The ICC Quiz Competition serves as both an academic contest and a tribute to Gandhi’s values and vision, aiming to encourage students to engage deeply with historical and cultural topics while developing critical thinking and collaborative skills. The event’s success reflects ongoing cooperation between Indian educational institutions and the Indian Embassy in Qatar to promote cultural education and community engagement.
