Blackpool has the highest density of take-away food outlets in the United Kingdom, according to recent research. The Lancashire town averages 23 take-aways per square mile, making it the most densely populated area for fast-food establishments in the country.
Brighton and Hove follows closely with 22 take-aways per square mile, while Oldham, located in Greater Manchester, ranks third with 20 take-aways per square mile. The findings highlight significant regional variations in the concentration of fast-food providers across the UK.
The study was conducted for the online healthcare provider Zava. Dr. Kathryn Basford, associated with the research, offered health advice for consumers who frequently eat take-away meals. She recommended opting for grilled dishes and avoiding sugary beverages as a way to make healthier choices when eating fast food.
The research illustrates trends in food service distribution and may inform public health considerations related to diet and nutrition in different localities.
