A powerful explosion struck the Plaka district of Athens, Greece’s historic tourist area near the Acropolis, causing the collapse of an old two-storey building and injuring at least two people. The incident occurred on Tuesday, prompting emergency responders to rush to the scene.

According to fire department officials, the blast caused the immediate collapse of the building, and neighboring structures also sustained damage. Firefighters were able to rescue two women trapped in an adjacent building, both of whom were subsequently taken to hospital for treatment.
