A 21-year-old man was taken into custody and hospitalized following an incident in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, where a BMW crashed through the wall of a local bowling alley on Friday. The vehicle reportedly traversed all 16 lanes of the alley before coming to a stop against the opposite wall, with its right indicator still flashing.
Prior to the collision with the bowling alley, the BMW was involved in a separate collision at a nearby junction, where it struck the rear of a Tesla. The impact also caused damage to a tree at the scene. The Tesla was subsequently towed away.
The BMW then continued its trajectory, destroying a brick wall and damaging the pre-fabricated structure housing MFA Bowl. The crash left a large hole in the building, prompting police to close surrounding roads for approximately five hours as they conducted their investigation.
Three pedestrians in the vicinity sustained minor injuries during the incident. Emergency services responded promptly, and the driver was questioned by authorities before being transported to hospital. Details regarding the cause of the crash remain under investigation.
