Fulham secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Coventry City on Tuesday, marking their second consecutive Premier League win and easing mounting pressure on manager Alvaro Arbeloa. The match, held at Coventry’s home ground, was decided by a moment of individual brilliance from Oscar Bobb, who scored the sole goal in the 80th minute.

Fulham started the game strongly, with Josh King narrowly missing the target in the first half, hitting the post. Despite Coventry having one more attempt on goal overall, it was Fulham who created the clearer scoring opportunities throughout the 90 minutes. Arbeloa’s side controlled possession for much of the match and showed resilience against a challenging opponent.

Speaking after the game, Arbeloa highlighted the team’s progress and their ability to compete consistently throughout matches. “We are improving as a team. We are competing for 90 minutes. It’s not about if we play well for 30 or 60 minutes, we need to understand that you need to compete for 90 minutes,” he said. The manager praised his team’s adaptability, noting they balanced defensive responsibility with moments of control.

Bobb’s goal was the product of individual skill, and Arbeloa emphasized the importance of quality players rising to the occasion. “Sometimes you need to win games because of the quality of your players. I think it was a good game as a team but, at the end, the quality of Oscar in one moment decides the game,” Arbeloa remarked. He also noted Bobb’s aggressive presence in the box and expressed confidence in the forward’s ability to make a difference going forward.

The win allowed Fulham to move past a difficult start to the season, overcoming a six-match winless streak and signaling signs of an upturn in form.

For Coventry, the result deepened concerns about their offensive efficacy. The club remains second from bottom of the league standings, and manager Frank Lampard acknowledged the team’s struggles to create meaningful chances. “If it ends 0-0, I think both [teams] say ‘fair play’. Fulham are a good team, they’ve been creating a lot of chances and you can see why,” Lampard said. He added, “We didn’t have any real zip at the top end of the pitch like we would want to get results here, so that’s disappointing.”

Coventry’s inability to convert opportunities contrasted with Fulham’s clinical finish, ultimately determining the outcome as the London-based side earned a valuable three points on the road.
