A three-month-old kitten named Jabal was taken from a Brooklyn bodega early Thursday morning, sparking a community search and a reward offer from the cat’s owner. The incident occurred at the Eighth Street Mini Market in Park Slope.

Owner Imad Innab discovered Jabal was missing shortly after opening the store around 7 a.m. According to Innab, the white kitten with yellow eyes had slipped out the front door briefly but did not return as expected. Security camera footage captured the theft at approximately 7:18 a.m., revealing a man and a woman removing Jabal from the premises.

Following the footage review, several customers and neighbors began searching the surrounding area. One individual encountered the suspected catnappers in Prospect Park, where the pair was seen carrying Jabal. When confronted, the man reportedly told the couple that the cat belonged to the store and was not a stray. Despite this, the couple placed the kitten in a bag and left the scene.

Innab chose not to press charges against the suspects but has taken steps to encourage the cat’s return. He has distributed flyers featuring the individuals’ photos and is offering a $500 reward with no questions asked. “Just give it back you know? He was living his life here,” Innab said.

The incident has drawn attention across the Park Slope community, with many residents expressing concern over Jabal’s disappearance and joining in the search efforts. The owner remains hopeful the kitten will be returned safely.
