Authorities discovered the body of a woman in a trash container at a remote beach parking lot in Brooklyn on Wednesday afternoon. Police responded to a 911 call around 3 p.m. at the Plumb Beach parking area near Knapp Street in Sheepshead Bay. Upon arrival, officers located the deceased and summoned emergency medical personnel, who confirmed the woman’s death at the scene.
The body was found in the parking lot of Plumb Beach, a small peninsula extending from Sheepshead Bay and situated across the Rockaway Inlet from Breezy Point. The area is part of the Gateway National Recreation Area and is commonly frequented by windsurfers and kite-boarders. According to officials, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has taken custody of the body to identify the woman and determine the cause and circumstances of her death.
