A British surgeon has introduced what he describes as the United Kingdom’s first toothpaste designed to provide immediate relief for sensitive teeth. Dr. Niall Kent unveiled a gel product called Ozen, aimed at helping individuals manage discomfort associated with eating or drinking hot and cold items.
The gel functions similarly to a dental varnish, creating a protective layer on sensitive areas of the teeth that builds up with each use. According to Dr. Kent, the concept aligns with existing recommendations from dental professionals, who often suggest applying toothpaste directly to sensitive spots prior to exposure to triggers such as ice cream, frozen drinks, or hot beverages.
Dr. Kent emphasized that while the practice of pre-application was already common, a readily portable and easy-to-use product had not been available. “We wanted to create something people could carry with them and can be used easily, just like a lip balm,” he stated, highlighting the product’s convenience as a key feature.
Ozen is intended to provide immediate protective relief, potentially improving the quality of life for millions suffering from tooth sensitivity by enabling them to enjoy a wider range of foods and drinks without pain. The product’s launch introduces a novel approach to managing a widespread dental issue, blending established dental advice with new application technology.
